Image of the Day

Vaslav Nijinsky by Leon Bakst

As a follow up to my post from Sunday, here is the original costume design for Nijinsky's Faune by one of the most influential designers of the Twentieth Century, Leon Bakst.  Nijinsky's choreography caused quite a sensation, and no wonder when you see the photographs which are still available, some of which I'll post in the near future.

In the meantime, listen to this glorious performance conducted by the great Leonard Bernstein.  He brings his unique perspective to Debussy's score to create a highly charged interpretation.  Enjoy.
